Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program

The Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program was created to provide financial and technical assistance to qualified for-profit small businesses that are approved for funding. This program has allowed small owned and operated businesses the opportunity to interact with local government under favorable conditions, and this relationship will ultimately bridge the gap between the two entities.
Mom and Pop Grants are administered in collaboration with your Miami-Dade County Commissioner’s Office. For an application please contact Neighbors and Neighbors Association at 305-756-0605 or your respective commissioner’s office. Some commissioners provide additional information about the program on their websites.

South Florida Minority Supplier Development Council

The SFMSDC was founded in 1975 by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Miami Progress Foundation for the purpose of fostering the development of minority-owned businesses throughout South Florida. Central to our mission is the principle that networks and relationships among and between minority businesses and Corporate and Government buyers build businesses. The Council’s main function is to register and certify minority-owned businesses. The process ensures that these businesses are 51% minority-owned and operated in accordance with the guidelines set by the National Minority Supplier Development Council.

US Department of Commerce - Minority Business Development Agency

Forty years ago the United States Congress passes a resolution that charged the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) with the US Department of Commerce, with the responsibility to provide managerial and technical assistance services to small businesses that were owned by ethnic and disadvantage minority individuals.
Empowered with this responsibility, the MBDA launched a nationwide network of Minority Business Enterprise Centers (MBEC), strategically located in the larger minority communities nationwide. The MBEC’s are operated by for-profit or non-profit enterprises that are selected and funded every 2-3 years through a nationwide competitive bidding process.
The Miami/Ft. Lauderdale MBEC is operated by M. Gill & Associates, Inc.
